Four Keys to Success in Network Marketing

Four Keys to Success in Network Marketing
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

The statistics are almost enough to make you forget all about the idea of starting an on-line network marketing business. You've heard all of the negatives: 90% or more failure rate; people losing their money on scams; an over-saturated market; pyramid schemes; inflated claims; government investigations. I am here to tell you that the horror stories you have heard about network marketing are true. So are many of the success stories. So what will ensure success instead of failure? You!

You can make a good living without a PhD, without a lot of training, and without a huge bank roll. Your success is dependent upon how much effort you are willing to devote to your business. Rather than scare you with yet another negative story about network marketing, I'm going to share with you four keys to being successful in your business.

Keep your feet planted firmly on the ground.

It's really easy to get carried away with the hype that surrounds the latest idea on how to make a million dollars. I receive at least a dozen emails a day telling me about the latest, greatest, fastest, easiest way to become rich on the internet. Some of these offers may actually be worthwhile. Most are not. You can make money through network marketing, and the internet is one of the best ways to advertise and develop your business. But, there is no legal way to make a million dollars overnight. Determine a realistic goal. Do you want to make $4,000 a month in your first three months? You can probably do that. It will take work. But, it's possible. You need to stay out of the air castles and on terra firma so that you don't become discouraged and give up when you don't become instantly wealthy.

Realize that like any business, network marketing takes work.

Probably 95% of the business opportunities I see promise a turn-key system for a business that runs itself. Now, I will say this much, if you have a huge contact list, you very well may be able to plug into a turn-key system that will begin to pay off for you within 24 hours. But, if you don't have a long list of prospects who already know and trust you, the overnight success system isn't going to work for you. Many people expect to start a business of their own and be able to work only 1/2 a day. Well, I have good news and bad news. You can run a successful business in only 1/2 a day. But, are you willing to spend that 12 hours a day on your business? OK, I'm exaggerating a bit. But, the point is, you can't expect to get something for nothing. You need to spend some time developing your business, developing contacts and leads, and promoting your product or service. Again, set a reasonable goal. If you truly want to be successful, I would count on spending at least 10 to 20 hours a week on your business for at least the first three months. Once you start actually seeing some income, you may be able to cut back. But, most likely, you won't want to. Because the more time you spend working ON your business, the more income you will generate.

Never stop learning.

There are a lot of excellent resources available. Read books. Subscribe to some newsletters. Read blogs. Suck as much information as you can from others who have been successful. Can you do it all on your own? Of course you can. You can learn the hard way, through trial and error, or, you can learn from others who have already made those mistakes and have found a better way. If you are willing to learn from others, you will be able to shorten the amount of time it takes for you to be successful.

Never give up.

The number one reason people fail at network marketing is that they quit. They either grow tired of trying, or they are impatient and want to be an overnight success, or they lack the self-confidence to think they can succeed. Whatever the reason, if you quit, you will join the ranks of those who "tried" and failed at network marketing. This is a business that you cannot "try". You have to determine this is what you want to do, and then you have to jump in with both feet and do it. You have to be willing to get your hands dirty. You have to be willing to continue to move forward even in the face of discouragement and failure. The only way you will ever succeed is if you keep working at it. And, if you do, I promise you there will come a day when you will notice there is a little bit of money trickling in. In time, that trickle will become a revenue stream that will allow you the time and freedom that made you want to do this in the first place.

Warning - The Internet Can Make Your Network Marketing Business Fail

Warning - The Internet Can Make Your Network Marketing Business Fail
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

The internet can be a wonderful driving force for your network marketing business, or it can cause you to be a miserable failure. Are you one of the 10% or less who will harness the power of the internet?

Many people are using the internet to generate wealth. But even more people are spending money left and right and not generating a dime. We've all seen the promises, "Make thousands of dollars a day and become rich without lifting a finger." And, even though our mothers told us that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true, these business opportunities tempt us as much as the promise of the healing powers of "snake oil" tempted our ancestors.

You try this idea, and then you see a sales letter for another idea that sounds even better. You buy one eBook after another, and sign up for multiple money-making schemes, and find your bank account dwindling instead of building. None of these methods seem to bring you the riches you read about in the sales letter. How do you find the right business that will allow you to succeed?

Here's the shocking truth: There is no right business!

The truth is, you can take any one of these opportunities and succeed (granted, some may be a little easier than others). The problem isn't in the business or the method. The problem is a lack of focus.

I'll let you in a little secret: Most internet marketers lie.

When they told you it wouldn't take any work, they lied. They may not lie outright, but they don't tell you the whole story. When they told you it would only take 2 hours a day, what they meant to say was that once your business became established, it would only take 2 hours a day. When they told you it would be 100% free, they lied. They may have offered a free report, but the money-generating offer cost something. And, likely once you signed up for that, you were directed to yet another offer you just couldn't pass up that cost even more. The truth is -- building a business of any kind takes time, effort, and at least a minimal cash outlay.

So, why should you bother if your network marketing company is going to be just like any other job? Well, it won't be. The difference is that after the initial effort of several hours a week that you don't have, or marketing money you really should spend on something else, you can get to the place where your business basically runs itself and you are making money while you sleep and not spending your grocery money on advertising.

If you get nothing else from this article, get this:

You have to choose a business, and then go for it - with everything you've got. You have to put blinders on to all of the other great ideas out there until you get this one thing going. You can always add other income streams later. But focus on your primary business first. Just "trying" won't get you there. You have to have focus.

Choosing the Right Network Marketing Opportunity

Choosing the Right Network Marketing Opportunity
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

While you can be successful at just about any Network Marketing opportunity, not all business opportunities are created equal. So, before you sign up, make sure you take the time to investigate the opportunity to make sure it will make you money instead of just lining someone else's pockets with yours.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Is the timing right?

Bobby socks and poodle skirts were so cool in the 50's. Kaftans, love beads and peace symbols were popular in the 60's. Pet rocks, mood rings and custom vans were all the rage in the 70's. Pac man, parachute pants and mullets were so hot in the 80's. I could go on, but I am sure you get my drift. Make sure there is a market for your product line. If there is a way to integrate the internet with your product, all the better, because internet growth doesn't show any sign of stopping.

Know the company

Look for a company that is well-established and has been around for a while. Now, that doesn't mean it needs to have been around for several decades. In fact, that can actually be a strike against a company. After all, the longer it's been around, the more people who have already been approached by someone about joining. But, beware, getting in on the proverbial "ground floor" of an opportunity could mean you'll spend a few months working your tail off only to have the parent company pull the rug out from under you when it closes its doors. Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any unresolved issues with this company. Just as a word of caution, just about any business out there will have negative press on the internet. Be aware that anyone can start a website and publish their point of view, but that doesn't necessarily make it true. So, be sure you are making a decision based on facts, or at least on reliable sources, not just John Doe who has a bone to pick with ABC MLM Company because he didn't get rich quick. Ask to speak with other representatives about the opportunity to gain other viewpoints.

Know your products

If you are going to promote your products with any kind of sincerity and authority, you need to use them yourself. If you are trying to sell me on your business, I will want to know how long you have been in it, how you run it, and how successful you are. I don't care about what your upline has told you about her success, I want to know about yours. If you are selling nutritional products, I will want to know what you are personally taking, and the difference it has made in the way you look and feel. I don't want to just read the company sales pitch on the product.

Know your sponsor

This may not apply if you are joining an on-line opportunity. But, if someone tries to get you into a business opportunity and you know this person is a little shady, or that this person does the bare minimum in order to get by, it's probably in your best interest to sign up under someone else. Remember, your sponsor is the one who will be primarily responsible for supporting you. You can go above that person to someone else in your upline, but if you have a choice -- and you really like this particular opportunity -- try to find another person who will sponsor you and really work with you to help you develop your business. If you stumbled on a great opportunity on line, it's likely that your IP and email addresses have been branded with your sponsor's information already, and you will automatically be placed in his downline.

Know what support is offered

Let's face it; some companies are better than others when it comes to providing training and support. I have known of traditional network marketing companies that make it difficult to talk to a live person and get any help at all without buying a pack of brochures, or a book, or a CD or DVD. On the other hand, I am involved with a couple of internet businesses in which I have never spoken to a live person yet, but the email and on line support is terrific and doesn't cost me a dime. That may not work for you. You may need a flesh and blood person in front of you or on the other end of the phone. Ask to speak to other new recruits and see how they feel about the level of support they are receiving. Make sure you know what you will get before you sign up.

Know the compensation plan

Most are similar, but again, some plans are better than others. Do you get a straight commission on every dollar you sell, or is there a point system? I have never seen a point system that wasn't considerably less than the dollar value. Do you have to sell a certain amount of product every month in order to qualify for your downline commissions? Do you have to purchase a certain amount of product for personal use every month? Do you have to directly sponsor a certain number people? Do you have to purchase other materials (sales/promotion materials, etc.)?

If, after all of your research, you are still excited about the opportunity, by all means, sign up for it! If not, keep looking. There are plenty of opportunities out there.

What's In It For Me?

What's In It For Me?
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

Many people fail at network marketing because they don't know what their leads are looking for. You find a great product line and a great company. You are on fire with the potential. You understand the compensation plan, and see the money pouring into your bank account already. You immediately set out trying to sell people on your products and your opportunity. You tell your brother, George. He isn't interested. You tell your sister Kate. She isn't interested either. You tell your best friend. He laughs at you. So, you find yourself sitting at the dining room table looking at your list of names and contacts, and can't bring yourself to dial the phone another time. Congratulations! You have reached the point where 98% of network marketers crash and burn.

The problem is, no matter how great your product line is and how wonderful the company is and how amazing the compensation plan is -- if you try to sell your products or your company too soon, you will fail miserably every time. But, don't despair! You're just trying to sell the wrong thing.

Your first task as a network marketer is to determine what your prospects want. You see, we were all drawn into network marketing because we saw it as the solution to a problem. Truly successful network marketers provide solutions, not products or opportunities. Unfortunately, people are becoming increasingly skeptical toward network marketing. Your best bet is to take a slow and steady approach through sharing information. By providing useful, content-rich information that others can use, over time, you will develop a relationship with your prospects. Some of them will become customers, and some will be receptive to your business opportunity. But, it takes time and effort to develop a relationship of trust.

I know this goes against everything your network marketing company has told you. You are supposed to pitch the business opportunity first, build a big downline who will buy products for their own personal use, and you will become a wealthy distributor in no time. Right? Wrong! Think of yourself as a problem solver, and strive to over-deliver. Give your prospects more information than they expect, and you will be the first person they think of when they are looking for a product or an opportunity in the future.

You cannot help but succeed if you help enough other people succeed. Nowhere is this more true than in network marketing.

Brand U

Brand U
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

What do you think of when you hear the name "Kodak?" What about "Coke?" Obviously, branding can be important for a company's long-term success. But, how and what do you brand?

Merriam Webster's dictionary defines branding as to mark with a brand or to impress indelibly; but, I think the Thesaurus gives us an even better definition: a device (as a word) identifying the maker of a piece. You see, you don't want to brand your product, or your merchandise, or your company, or your opportunity. What you really want to brand in network marketing, is you.

You may have the most sought after products in the world, and the best compensation plan around. You may represent the most established and most successful company out there. But, what it boils down to is, do your prospects want to work with you?

How do you present yourself to your prospects so that they want to work with you? You can have your prospects literally chase you down to ask you about your opportunity, what you did to become successful, and how they can follow in your footsteps.

One of the most important things you can do to place yourself as an expert in your field is to continue to learn. How much money do you spend on self-improvement every year? Stephen Covey calls this "Sharpening the Saw." You never want to stop learning. If you stop learning, you become stagnant. Yesterday's new wave of technology is tomorrow's ancient relic. If you don't subscribe to newsletters, blogs, and magazines that have to do with your specific industry, I can guarantee you that you will be left in the dust. You need to spend some time every day listening to other experts, reading books or magazines, and learning from the leaders in your field.

This one thing will set you above the vast majority of the other people in network marketing who are "giving it a try." In fact, if you are just going to try this business, take my advice and get out now. If you are going to succeed, you have to want this with every fiber of your being. You have to eat, walk, talk, sleep and dream network marketing. Otherwise you'll be one of the 90% that fail.

Zig Ziglar once said, "The best way to reach the top is to help someone else get there." In other words, the best way for you to be successful is to help others be successful. You'll never see me talk about "blowing away" your competition. You see, I believe there is a big enough market for everyone to have their share, and I honestly, sincerely want to help you get your piece of the pie.

There is a reason this industry is called "network marketing." You should have a network - not just of people in your own opportunity - but people in other opportunities as well. This is where the knowledge you gained in the last step will really come in handy. With your knowledge and experience, you'll be able to help those who are new to the business build a firm foundation so that they too can succeed. They may not be interested in your particular opportunity, and that's okay. What you will gain, is a friend, an ally, a potential partner in the future for a joint venture project, and good PR in the form of word of mouth. Your new friend may very well tell someone (or several others) about you who will be interested in your opportunity.

So, how do you network? Join some on-line communities. Subscribe to and participate in blogs. Attend network marketing seminars. Introduce yourself to everyone you come into contact with. Exchange emails. Be sure to have a business card on hand at all times.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when entering this industry is thinking that they will be an overnight success. I know you've seen the ads promising riches beyond your wildest dreams in 30 days. The truth is, for most people, it takes longer than 30 days to build up a network of people. But, the good news is, while it may start out slowly, your efforts will gradually pick up steam and have a snowball effect that will begin to create the wealth and lifestyle you long for.

The Key to Success in Network Marketing

The Key to Success in Network Marketing
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

Google the phrase "How to Succeed in Network Marketing" and you'll receive 2,220,000 hits in 0.41 seconds (as of this writing). Suggestions range from believing in yourself to knowing your company and products; from selling yourself, to duplicating yourself. All of these are important. But, I believe there is one key to success that overshadows the rest. You have to know why you want to succeed. You have to have a dream.

There will be times on your journey when you will wonder what you have gotten yourself into. You will wonder what on earth you were thinking when you started down this path. You will face a lot of challenges. First, your family and friends will tell you that you've made a big mistake. Some of them have tried network marketing before and not succeeded, and they are sure you will fail too. They don't really mean to drag you down. They probably have your best interests at heart and just want to protect you from the same disappointment they went through.

You will suffer from the disappointment of rejection. Not everyone you share your opportunity with will be as excited about it as you are. You will hear the word "No" far more often than you want or expect to hear it.

You will suffer from impatience. You won't build your business as quickly, or sign people up as quickly as you were hoping to. You won't increase your income as quickly as you wanted. Your website won't initially get as many hits as you thought it would.

During these down times, it's your dream that will sustain you and give you the encouragement to carry on.

So, what do you really want? And, don't come up with a vague answer. You need to be specific. One way to help define your dream is to ask yourself "Why." Don't just say that you want to be rich. Why do you want to be rich? What will being rich allow you to do? What will you do with your money? Don't just say you want to retire. Why do you want to retire? What will you do with your time if you aren't working? Your dream needs to be an emotional touch stone for you, or it doesn't qualify as a dream. It has to be something you can see, imagine, smell, touch and feel.

There are several exercises you can use to help flesh out your dream in detail. Try one or two of these to get your creative juices flowing.

1. Imagine that you are featured on the cover of "Time" magazine as the person of the year. What would you be recognized for?

2. Imagine you are attending your own memorial or funeral service. How will you be remembered by your children, your friends, your business associates and other people in your life?

3. Make a "treasure map" or "dream board" by cutting out pictures, words and phrases from magazines. Don't analyze, just cut out whatever appeals to you. Then, paste the words and pictures on poster board.

One word of caution: be careful with this last exercise. Anytime I have created a "treasure map," almost magical things have happened in my life. The last "treasure map" I created was filled with pictures of family activities in the great outdoors, hiking, lush green forests and foliage. I was living in the concrete jungles of California at the time, working full time and taking a full class load at the community college. Two months later, I was recruited to move to Arkansas where I now live on 15 acres in the country and go hiking regularly with my 15-year old son.

So, to be a success in network marketing, you have to know why you want to succeed. Don't just dream - dream big! Now take action and turn your dream into reality.

OK, So Where Do I Start in Internet Marketing?

OK, So Where Do I Start in Internet Marketing?
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

Starting a new internet Network Marketing business can be exhilarating, confusing and, well let's face it, overwhelming at times.

It is estimated that the internet grows by 7.3 million pages per day. Between 2000 and 2007, internet use has grown by 225%. An October 1999 Business Week article reported an estimated 3 billion-plus email messages sent per day. Current daily internet users are estimated to be 6,574,666,417 -- with 334,538,018 of those in North America. The overall average of internet use per population in the entire world is only approximately 18%, although the North America average is 69%. Some sources say there are 100 new internet users every minute -- that's 1,440 a day. Others report a first-time internet purchaser every 6 seconds. Reported ecommerce revenues in 2005 were $2,400,000,000,000, which represented a 17% increase over 2004.

So, what does this all mean? There is money to be made on the internet, and it doesn't show signs of drying up at any time in the foreseeable future. The question is: how are you going to get your share of the pie?

By this time, you should know why you want to be in network marketing. You should have your dream in Technicolor and surround sound. If not, see my previous article "The Key to Success in Network Marketing."

Chances are you have already signed up with a network marketing business opportunity. If so, they have likely given you some brochures and tasks, invited you to meetings, and your sponsor and her immediate sponsor have given you the company recommended method of recruiting distributors and selling products. If you are reading this article, it is also likely that you have already decided the company recommended method doesn't sound very fun, exciting, or profitable. At this point in time, you may be seriously considering dumping the whole idea and sticking with your safe, secure job that will continue to earn you a paycheck and benefits. But, before you do anything hasty, let me assure you, no matter what opportunity you have signed up with, you can promote it successfully on the internet. Admittedly, some opportunities will be easier to promote than others.

If you haven't signed up for a particular opportunity yet, take your time. There are a lot of them out there. Again, some are better than others. But, they all sound good. Make sure you do your homework and research these companies before signing up and forking over your hard-earned cash. Be especially careful of the free trial offers that ask you for a payment method. Odds are, even if you decide against staying with this company, you will forget to cancel before the free trial period is over and be stuck paying for a month or more of a service you never use. It's just human nature, and that's what they are banking on -- literally.

Next, you need to decide if you are going to jump immediately into promoting your business opportunity, or if you are going to try to generate some alternate income streams first -- or even simultaneously. This step is more important that you might think. If you get started investing time, money and energy in one direction, your website name you carefully investigated, purchased and developed will go on the back burner because it doesn't fit the idea you decide to launch first. Trust me; this is the voice of experience talking! Not that you can't go back to that idea at some point in the future, but you want to get started and keep going without losing momentum and having to start all over again.

If you are not sure what to market first, do some research to try to determine a niche you can easily move into to make some operating capital to fund your business opportunity, or develop other streams of income. What do you know that you could develop a marketable product around? What other similar products are out there? Is there a large demand for this type of product?

Once you have decided what you are going to market (your biz op, a DVD you created, a series of lessons, an e-book, your product line, etc.), you need to do some key word research to find the names that people will likely type into the major search engine when looking for whatever it is you are going to market. Then purchase a domain name with some good key words in it.

Obviously, I'm not going into great detail fleshing out these steps. There is more information available than I can cram into a brief article, but hopefully I'm providing you with enough information so that you can take the ball and run with it.

Now you have a dream, you have a product (or products) and you have a domain name. These are essential first steps. But, you are still a long way from being a successful network marketer. You still have to create your website. But, that's another subject for another day.

Successful Mind Games

Successful Mind Games
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

No one likes to get played. We want people to be straight forward with us, even when we aren't straight forward with others. But, there is one person you need to play mind games with in order to be successful. You.

You will never be a success at network or multi-level marketing, or any other venture, for that matter, until you learn to think, and act, like a success. There have been more books and articles written on this subject that you could ever hope to read. One of the earliest and one of my favorites is Psychocybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. Other well-known books include Napolean Hill's Think and Grow Rich. Scientific studies have verified the connection between thought and reality. Athletes have used the power of imagination for years to improve their performance. So, why is it that we have a hard time believing that our thoughts can control our destiny in business?

The old adage "fake it until you make it" is truer than many people will acknowledge. But, when you break it down and really take a cold hard look at it, it makes sense.

When you think about a failure, what kind of person do you picture? Someone who:

• is slumped over with poor posture?
• doesn't smile, and looks either sad or angry?
• doesn't look you in the eyes?
• walks with a slow shuffle?
• speaks quietly, perhaps with poor grammar?
• is introverted, and doesn't "mingle" well in a social setting?

When you think about a successful person, what kind of person do you picture? Someone who:

• stands up straight with head held high?
• smiles and looks happy or at least confident?
• confidently looks you right in the eyes?
• walks boldly with a sure step?
• projects his voice and uses proper grammar?
• is extroverted, and introduces herself in social settings?

Which person do you picture yourself as? If there are differences between your actions and appearance and the successful image and the way you are, it's time to take control of the situation and act as if until you are.

So, here are five easy tasks to improve your appearance and look more successful:

1. Work on your posture. It won't just improve your appearance, it will also improve your attitude and your health.

2. Before you leave the house every morning, look yourself in the mirror and smile the biggest smile you can. Make it so big it looks fake, and keep it plastered on your face for at least 3 minutes.

3. Go for a walk around the block every day. When you walk, make a concentrated effort to walk confidently and smoothly. Lift your feet up. You don't have to set a speed record, but walk at a brisk pace. Again, this will not only improve your appearance and attitude, but also your health.

4. An old acting technique is to project your voice. When you speak, speak to the back of the room. That doesn't mean to speak loudly, but just to imagine that when you speak, you are speaking to the person at the other end of the room. If you are in the habit of using slang, clean up your language! If you want to attract professionals into your business, you have to be professional.

5. Many years ago I learned an easy an interesting technique from my upline to draw yourself out of your shell. Put five marbles in your left pocket at the beginning of the day. During the day, force yourself to talk to five total strangers. This can be at the checkout line in the grocery store, at the gas station, on the street corner, wherever you have to go to find someone you don't know. Each time to you talk someone new, move one of the marbles from your left pocket to your right pocket. You don't have to have a long-winded conversation. You just want to boldly and confidently introduce yourself. You can talk about the weather, if you want. Even better, ask them what they do for a living and see if you can get a business card, email address or phone number and add them to your contact list!

Practice these steps daily, and you will be amazed at the change in yourself - and in your business. After all, who would you prefer to work with: the person you pictured as a failure, or the person you pictured as a success?

Creating a Knock-Out Squeeze Page

Creating a Knock-Out Squeeze Page
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

The two components of network marketing are, well, networking and marketing. Networking is all about building relationships with lots of people. Marketing is about selling -- whether you are selling yourself, your business opportunity or your product. Your website doesn't have to be huge in order to sell successfully. In fact, some of the websites with the highest conversion rates are little more than a sales letter. So, how do you build a successful website for your network marketing business? I'll show you how in 7 easy steps.

1. Your Headline

You want this to be big and bold. This is where you have to make an outrageous claim that will grab the attention of your prospect. Don't lie, just clearly state the best possible outcome of your service, opportunity or product. At the bottom of your webpage, you can always add a disclaimer that results are highly individual.

2. Testimonials

Now that you've made an outrageous claim, you need to back it up. Granted, this may be difficult to do if you are new and don't have a lot of customers yet who will vouch for your integrity and that of your product. But, don't despair. When an author writes a book, he sends the manuscript out to a variety of people hoping that they will read and write a brief review which then gets printed on the book cover. You can do the same thing. If you are selling your services, provide free services for a few people in exchange for their testimonial. If you are selling products, provide some free samples to people and ask them to write a brief testimonial. If you are trying to recruit people into your business opportunity, have your upline or crossline write a testimonial for your website. If you can't manage to get a testimonial, then it just might be because you truly don't have anything worthwhile to sell!

3. Problem/Story

Here is where you want to set the stage and draw on your prospect's emotions. You can either tell your own personal story or someone else's -- even someone you don't know personally. But, use a story to illustrate the problem that your service, opportunity or product will solve. Stories humanize your sales pitch.

4. Solution/Benefits

In this section, you want to explain how what you have to offer will solve the problems you just talked about. You want to go heavy on the benefits. If you are offering a money-making opportunity, don't just talk about the money, talk about the benefits of having the money. What will extra money give you? If you are selling a health product, don't just talk about health, but talk about the benefits of being healthy.

5. Call to action

Now that you have made an outrageous claim, backed it up with testimonials, drawn on the prospects' emotions, and told them the benefits of what you have to offer, you have to ask them to take some sort of action. This is where you give them the opportunity to provide their contact information, or purchase the product. Two additional items to consider in this step are any freebies or discounts you may have to offer, and setting a deadline for action. Maybe you are only looking for five associates, or you have only 100 items available for purchase, or you will offer a 25% discount on your services if they respond by midnight. Make your prospect have a reason to respond now, not later. It's a known fact in sales, if you don't get the sale before they walk out of your store (or click off of your website), you probably never will. "Be backs" rarely come back.

6. Guarantee

Because we live in an age of skepticism, it's helpful to offer a guarantee on your services or products. Make sure you set a specific time limit (30 days, 60 days, 90 days) -- and make sure you hold to your guarantee. If you aren't convinced your product is so good you won't end up refunding every dollar you earn, then don't offer a guarantee. But, you should also rethink your product. If you can't guarantee it, then work on improving it until you can.

7. Summarize

First you tell them what you are going to tell them (headline). Then you tell them. Now, you want to sum it up by telling them what you told them. Punch your biggest benefit and the time limit in the summary section, and end with another call to action, emphasizing that they need to act before it's too late.

Try this with your squeeze page, and see if your conversion rate doesn't improve.

If You Think You Can't, You're Right!

If You Think You Can't, You're Right!
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

Your thoughts have far more control over your circumstances than you realize. The fact is, you can learn to control your thoughts and, in the process, control your business. Or, you can continue to allow your thoughts to control your circumstances and watch your business go down the drain.

On the surface, this may not seem to have much to do with building wealth through your home business, but there is a big connection between your thoughts and your success (or lack thereof!). The mind is a funny thing. We have this continual monologue going on inside of our brains. It never stops. Have you ever started reading something and 15 minutes later found yourself thinking about something totally unrelated to what you were reading and wondered how on earth you got there? Have you ever followed that trail back to the beginning and discovered all of the twists and turns that got you to the end destination?

Depending on which source you believe, the average person has anywhere from 12,000 to 50,000 thoughts per day. Most of these are the same old thoughts we were programmed to think from our childhood. Things we heard our family and peers say remain trapped in our brain on an endless loop. Some of my personal childhood tapes were, "the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer." "Big business has all the money and the little man will never get anywhere." "The way to make money is to go to school, get good grades, and get a steady job." Of course, from time to time, there were the other thoughts that got programmed in there like "you're not good enough," or "you'll never amount to anything."

If you truly paid attention to your thoughts, you'd probably be amazed to discover how many negative thoughts you have every day. What is worse is that these thoughts are usually playing on an endless loop through our mind just below the conscious level, so we don't even realize we are sabotaging ourselves. You see, the problem with thoughts is, they seem to be too small to really matter. Besides, they are internal, and no one else knows what we're thinking, right?

Well, have you ever said something, maybe even under your breath, and wondered where that came from? There's a saying:

"Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny."

You will be bombarded with plenty of people -- often your family and your friends -- who will tell you that you'll never succeed at your home-based network marketing business. Many of them will tell you from their own experience that it's impossible to succeed! This is one of the reasons I don't agree with the traditional method of recruiting people in MLM. The very people you love the most, and who love you, will likely have the most negative attitude toward your new-found opportunity. If you aren't careful, you'll adopt these thoughts as your own, and find your enthusiasm drop at an alarming rate. You'll need to guard your thoughts, and be sure to counteract any negative ones with positive ones. One of the best ways to do this is to listen to and read about the success of others.

Today, spend some time watching your thoughts -- especially when you are thinking about, or working on, your business. In fact, it wouldn't hurt to put up little post-it notes or index cards with positive affirmations where you can see them first thing in the morning and throughout the day. Your friends, family and co-workers may think you are a little strange at first, but you will be able to have the last laugh when you begin to see positive changes take place in your life.

Change your life by changing your thoughts. Begin today.

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking - Part 5

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking - Part 5
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

While action is definitely important and you won't get anywhere until you act, there is another important step to take before acting. You have to have a plan. Human beings have a unique ability: the ability to turn thoughts into reality, dreams into substance. You see, it isn't enough to think your thoughts and dream your dreams. Your dreams can only satisfy you when they have become the substance of your reality. Once you have dreamed your dreams, you have to create a plan to carry them out.

Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you ready or not, to put this plan into action. --Napoleon Hill

There are several different methods for creating a plan. One of the best is to start at the end and work your way backwards. That may not be the easiest way in this industry, if you aren't certain how to achieve the end result. But, I still believe it is a valuable exercise and will help you to keep the end in mind while you are taking the steps to get there. So, let's say you know you want to make $100,000 a year. Some of you may be thinking that's a conservative amount, some of you are probably laughing at such a paltry sum. But, it's a nice, round figure, so let's start there.

What would it take to for you to make $100,000 a year? Break it down into pieces. If you are in a MLM company that sells products, how many dollars worth of sales would it take for your commission to reach $100K? I would recommend you look at it from several angles. What would the total sales be if you, personally, sold all of that product? OK, now what if you had some downline working with you. Let's say you have two recruits who are selling lots of product. You personally sell enough to earn $50K off of commissions and they each sell enough for you to make $50K off of their combined sales. Keep breaking it down until you find a combination that seems "reasonable."

Now, what would it take to get there? How many people would you personally need to recruit, and how much product would you personally have to sell in order to reach your goal? What about each of your downline? If nothing else, this exercise will teach you very quickly the power of leverage and why it's so important to have other people working under you!

Now, how soon do you want to get there? Do you want to reach that level in 6 months? 12 months? 2 years? Let's say you are going to give yourself 2 years to get there. How many people do you need to sign up in your business each month in order to achieve your goal? How many people do you need to help your downline recruit each month? Knowing that recruiting is basically a numbers game, and you will likely close less than 10% of the people you approach, how many people do you need to talk to in order to recruit that many people every month? I wouldn't worry at this point about the variance in performance of your recruits. We all know that one enthusiastic recruit will outperform ten recruits with no drive. But, for now, we will assume that everyone will produce an average amount of sales and downline.

If you need to recruit 2 people a month, and you have to talk to at least 20 to do that, that breaks out to 5 leads a week. How are you going to generate those leads once you have blown through your obligatory list of 200 names? You need to have a lead generation system in place. This can be through a newsletter, a group or forum in which you participate, a website, ezine articles, direct mail, advertising, pay per click or any number of other ideas.

Basically, we are trying to set realistic, but not easy goals. You need to have a target to shoot for.

"Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible." --Tony Robbins

If you are short on knowledge on how to do anything, that's OK. You can always start with what you know and learn as you go. If you want until you know everything about everything, you'll never even get out of the starting gate! Now that you have a general idea about what lies ahead of you, you need to come up with a daily, weekly and monthly game plan. Realize that your game plan is always subject to change. Nothing is set in stone. But, resolve to do accomplish the goals you set for yourself. One of the mistakes many people make when they enter the Network Marketing arena is that they buy into the myth that they can be wildly successful and tremendously wealthy without doing any work. Trust me, it doesn't work that way. The important thing is to not get bogged down in all of the details.

I'll leave you with a final quote from philosopher William James: "To change ones life: Start immediately. Do it flamboyantly."

Change your life today. Begin today.

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking - Part 4

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking - Part 4
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

In Part 4 of the series we are going to talk about planting seeds. Your mind is a fertile garden. What you plant in it will grow. Or, perhaps more accurately, what is planted in it will grow. If you want to reap the harvest you desire, you have to make sure you plant the right seeds.

"Imagination is the true magic carpet."
--Norman Vincent Peale

We talked about imagining yourself the way you want to be in our last article. It is important to continue to do that. Commit to yourself to take a few minutes when you get up in the morning, and a few minutes before you go to bed at night, to picture yourself in your mind's eye as a successful business person. Picture leads coming to you for information about your business. Instead of feeling desperate about the amount of people in your downline, feel content and excited about people chasing you down wanting to know how you became successful in network marketing.

Beyond your own imagination, make sure you feed your mind with other sources of good information too. Everything you see or hear is a seed being planted in your mind garden. You may not be personally planting them, but just as surely as the wind carries a dandelion seed to your lawn so that it can sprout up in the spring, these images, sounds and thoughts are being planted in your mind where they will grow.

So much of what surrounds us and enters our minds is negative. How often do you hear good news on the radio or TV? How often do you read an inspiring story on the front page of your local newspaper? How many magazines cover stories deal with success and heroism? When you are standing at the checkout stand, do you overhear people talking about how wonderful their lives are and how successful and rich they are? Do your friends or family members frequently tell you about their amazingly close and fulfilling relationships with others in their lives? How many people tell you how deliriously happy they are to get up and go to work every day?

Do you see what I mean?

"Any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in the mind through repetition of thought."
--Napoleon Hill

Unfortunately, this applies to both good and bad. So, if we are receiving negative input the majority of our 16+ wakeful hours a day, we need to make sure we are counteracting that with plenty of positive input. I highly recommend you build up a personal library of motivational books. Read books by W. Clement Stone, Napoleon Hill, Norman Vincent Peale, Stephen Covey, Anthony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Dale Carnegie, or any of the other wonderful authors. In addition to reading, I listen to MP3 files and CDs most of the time instead of the radio. Don't get me wrong, I love music, and I also listen to a lot of music during the day. But, even then, I am careful about what I listen too. If you pay attention to most of the lyrics of popular music -- old or new -- you'll discover that most of it consists of negative seeds just waiting to sprout weeds in the garden of your mind. So, I recommend you even be careful about your choice in music. I am not suggesting you become a monk and seal yourself off from anything and everything negative, just that you be aware of the powerful negative influences you are surrounded by every day. You may decide you want to go watch the latest slasher movie, just be sure you counteract that with something good.

"Live out of your imagination, not your history."
--Stephen Covey

Remember that repetition is a key component of changing your habitual thoughts. Many of us are held back by remembering our failures of yesterday instead of imagining our successes of tomorrow. If you don't have enough successes of your own to think about, borrow someone else's! There are lots of motivational stories out there. Find one that you can identify with, and memorize it; replaying it often in your mind. See yourself living out that kind of success. Talk to your upline, downline, cross line. Find someone who inspires you.

Put yourself on a self-improvement program. Determine to read a book a month (or a week, if you are a fast reader). Listen to a CD a week. In fact, I'd recommend you listen to the same one every day for a week to make sure you really get what the speaker is saying. Take classes. There are on-line classes and correspondence classes that you can take on your schedule. But, you should always keep your mind active and learning. It is well worth the time and effort spent. This is part of what Stephen Covey refers to as "sharpening the saw." The analogy is that of a woodcutter using a saw to chop down trees. He is so busy chopping, that he never takes the time to sharpen the blade. In the beginning, he chops down a lot of trees in short order. But, eventually, he ends up cutting fewer trees less efficiently because his blade becomes dull.

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking - Part 3

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking - Part 3
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

"The creative mechanism within you is impersonal. It will work automatically and impersonally to achieve goals of success and happiness, or unhappiness and failure, depending upon the goals which you yourself set for it. Present it with 'success goals' and it functions as a 'success mechanism'. Present it with negative goals, and it operates just as impersonally and just as faithfully as a failure mechanism. Like any other servomechanism, it must have a clear-cut goal, objective, or problem to work upon. The goals that our own creative mechanism seeks to achieve are MENTAL IMAGES, or mental pictures, which we create by the use of the Imagination." -- Maxwell Maltz, Psyco-Cybernetics

This series deals with developing a positive self-image. Most of this article is based on the research and techniques developed by Dr. Maxwell Maltz. Dr. Maltz was amazed by his patients who, after undergoing flawless plastic surgery and receiving exactly what they had said they wanted, still saw themselves as "ugly." He realized that surgery alone, without a corresponding change in the patient's self-image, meant nothing.

Our self-image is made up of memories, experiences and beliefs. While some of those beliefs may no longer be true, until we change our self-image, we will continue to be limited by our beliefs no matter how ridiculous they may be.

Scientific research has documented that repetition creates neural pathways in our brains. This is one of the most amazing characteristics of the human brain. We can actually mold it through repetition. The neurons modify their connections to improve the efficiency of circuits. It is similar to taking the same path through the woods over and over again until it is well-worn and easier to travel. The same goes for our memories: the more we review them in our mind, the more deeply they are etched in our neural pathways. Can you see how going over and over and over those same negative beliefs, or replaying those past failures can be so debilitating!

Now, here's the truly amazing part. Your mind doesn't even know the difference between a real and an imagined event! So, what if you start replacing those tired old black and white failures from your personal ancient history with brilliant color graphics of your future -- the way you want it to be? This same technique is being used successfully by athletes the world over; they view themselves sinking the shot, making the goal, slamming that ball out of the park, breaking the world record, winning the championship game, etc. You can actually improve your performance by mentally seeing yourself perform perfectly, even if you don't physically practice.

Now don't go off the deep end and tell people you are going to just "imagine" yourself to success without doing the work. You won't. But, imagining yourself succeeding at a task before you undertake it will help you to achieve success. Maxwell Maltz believed that self-image was the key to success. Positive thinking by itself won't get the job done. The thoughts have to be consistent with your self-image.

Richard Wilhelm puts it this way in the The I Ching, or Book of Changes

"Every event in the visible world is the effect of an 'image,' that is, of an idea in the unseen world. Accordingly, everything that happens on earth is only a reproduction of an event in a world beyond our sense perception..."

So, your assignment for today is to think about where you feel the least successful in your business. If you could change one thing, gain one skill, improve one ability, what would it be? Now, set to work imagining yourself the way you want to be in that area. Don't just affirm it, visualize it. Take the time to flesh it out. See it in full color. What would it feel like, smell like, taste like? How would you behave differently? Would you dress differently? Would people treat you differently? Imagine standing in front of the person who least expects you to succeed when you are successful beyond your wildest dreams. What would that feel like?

Spend just a few minutes visualizing this way every day before you set out to complete your tasks, and you'll be amazed at the difference you'll see in your business.

I'll leave you with one more quote:

"Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture..." -- Norman Vincent Peale

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking-Part 2

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking-Part 2
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

Developing a positive mental attitude takes time and effort. But, the results are well worth it. Just like tending a garden, you have to weed out what you don't want, and you have to plant what you do want. So, today, we are going to learn how to weed the garden of the mind.

If you've done any gardening of flowers or vegetables, I am sure you've noticed that weeds come up all by themselves. You really don't even have to prepare the soil. Weeds will automatically pop up. If you do prepare the soil, you don't have to plant the weeds -- again -- they manage to pop up all on their own. In fact, once I've prepared the soil and planted my seeds, it never ceases to amaze me how much faster the weeds sprout up than the plants I am trying to grow!

The first thing you have to do is distinguish the weeds from the plants. This is usually fairly easy to do, although often a negative thought may be cleverly disguised as "fact" or "being realistic." Generally speaking, a negative thought will make you feel weak or frightened. A positive thought will empower you.

Watch your thoughts for a while and see just how many of them are negative, and which category the thought falls into. You may be surprised to find out just how many weeds, and how many different types of weeds you are dealing with. Take the time to write down as many of these thoughts as you identify. Especially watch those that have anything to do with your business, your ability to succeed at your goals, or money in general.

Many of us harbor incredibly negative attitudes toward money and don't even realize it. Things like "It takes money to make money." "The rich get richer while the poor get poorer." And my all-time personal favorite, "Money is the root of all evil." That one, by the way, is not actually in the Bible, though many people swear it is. It is the love of money, which is stated to be the root of all evil, not money itself. You see, money is simply a form of energy exchange. You can also think of it as a magnifier. It will magnify whatever already exists. If you are foolish, more money will make you more foolish. If you are good, you will use your money for good. If you are careless with your pennies, having dollars won't help you. It will only give you more money to be careless with!

Now that you have identified and listed your weeds, it's time to rid your garden of them.

One of the safest, although time-consuming methods of weeding is to simply pluck out the weeds by hand. It avoids the use of chemicals, and doesn't disrupt the seed. However, in the garden of the mind, it isn't as easy as just plucking out a negative thought. For example, right now, I don't want you to think about a pink elephant. Whatever you do, do not imagine a pink elephant, wearing a top-hot, riding on a tricycle. Just pluck that thought right out of your mind. I repeat, do not think about a pink elephant.

OK, how successful were you? I am guessing you probably weren't very successful.

Now, I want you to think about sitting on a bench and looking out into a field of daisies. The birds are singing in the trees around you. Bees are buzzing around the flowers. You can hear children laughing in the distance. The sun warms your skin, and lulls you into a peaceful state of mind, while a soft breeze gently moves the blades of grass in the field. Fluffy white clouds float silently by in the bright blue sky over your head.

Now, were you still thinking about that pink elephant? You see, the most effective means of plucking negative thoughts from your mind garden is to replace them with positive thoughts.

So, pull out your list of weeds again. Next to each negative thought, write a positive statement to replace it with. For instance, maybe you think, "I can't call leads. I freeze up every time!" Replace that thought with, "I am an excellent communicator. I am offering a valuable opportunity to someone who has a genuine interest in what I have to offer and wants to talk to me. My conversations with leads are fun, stimulating and profitable!"

The next time you have that fear thought (by the way, a good acronym for fear is "false evidence appearing real"), replace it with your positive thought.

I won't lie to you and tell you that this is easy. But, what I will tell you is that it does become easier with time. And it is effective. There are more steps, but you have your first assignment in hand. Go ahead and start making your list.

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking-Part 1

Power Your Business Through Positive Thinking-Part 1
Copyright © Cheree Miller
http://www.WealthBuildersSite.com

There are people who firmly believe that their thoughts have the ability to change the direction of their lives, and there are others who think such beliefs are based on fairy tales. I am convinced that there is no other single factor that can alter the course of your life and your business more than learning to control your thoughts. As a general rule, negative thoughts bring negative results, and positive thoughts bring positive results.

In 1952, Norman Vincent Peale wrote a book that has had a profound effect on the lives of millions of people. "The Power of Positive Thinking" has been translated into 41 languages, and has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. The information he presented in his little book over 50 years ago is now being backed up by scientific research. Norman Vincent Peale believed that if you change your thoughts, you can change your world.

The problem that many people have with the whole idea of positive thinking is, they tried it -- once -- didn't see an immediate change in their circumstances, and abandoned the idea claiming that it didn't work. Think about it. How many years did it take you to get where you are today? Why then would you expect your circumstances to change overnight? Think of your thoughts being like the rudder on a big ship. You turn the rudder, but the ship doesn't make an instant, sharp turn in the water. However, the ship has changed course, and gradually, the change in course will become apparent. Your thoughts work the same way. They will begin to change the circumstances of your life and your business, but it will likely take some time to see dramatic results.

The problem is you can't change all of your circumstances with one new thought when there are 50 other negative thoughts overpowering it. Most of us have heard so-called "facts" about business, money and success for so many years, that we have accepted these as true. Well, I'm going to let you in on a secret: facts are not necessarily truth. Think of facts as a temporary set of circumstances that is subject to change. Think of truth as a future potential.

"Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that
determines our success or failure. The way you think about a fact may
defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by
the fact because you think you are."

-- Norman Vincent Peale

The fact is, you may not be a successful network marketer today, at this very moment. But, the truth is, you can be a successful network marketer. But, it will take a change of thought and some time and effort on your part.

Try this with your website, and see if your conversion rate doesn't improve.
